The Robotics WEBook

An online textbook about robots and other mechatronic systems

Basic science & technology

Robotics relies to a large extent on other sciences and technologies. This part of the WEBook contains the material that is commonly used in robotics, and that it shares with many other research domains. This material will, in principle, not contain any references to, or terminology from, robotics, in order to facilitate actual sharing with other initiatives that are similar to the WEBook.

The sections that will actually be filled in within the “basic science and technology” context of the WEBook are limited to those topics that are actually being used in the Robotics Part of the WEBook.

These topics come from embedded systems, mathematics and physics, sensor and actuators, systems and control, and mechanical design.

Suggestions for new topics, as well as for changes in the structure of this Basic science & technology Part, are welcome on the mailing list.
